Parts of the Maritimes are under snowfall, freezing rain and winter storm warnings as a low-pressure system continues to work its way across the region.
In P.E.I., freezing rain warnings are in effect for Kings and Queens counties. However, Environment Canada says the precipitation will change to snow this morning.
In Prince County, Environment Canada is calling for 10 to 15 cm of snow.
In Nova Scotia, Halifax is expected to get about two cm of snow.
Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for six areas where it is calling for 10 to 15 cm of snow. The areas are:
- Colchester County — Cobequid Bay
- Colchester County North
- Cumberland County — Minas Shore
- Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass
- Inverness County — Mabou and north
- Victoria County
In New Brunswick, snowfall warnings are in effect for Kent County, Kouchibouguac National Park, the Miramichi area, Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick. Environment Canada says 15 cm of snow should fall in these areas.
Blowing snow advisories have been issued for:
- Bathurst and Chaleur Region
- Campbellton and Restigouche County
- Mount Carleton — Renous Highway
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the Acadian Peninsula. The weather agency is calling for 15 to cm of snow to fall there.
There are some power outages to report Sunday morning as of 11:15 a.m.
Nova Scotia Power is reporting about 2,100 customers in Truro, Ingonish and the Kentville/Wolfville areas do not have electricity.
NB Power says about 50 customers in the Bouctouche and Bathurst areas are without power.
Maritime Electric in P.E.I. is reporting outages in Eldon-Belfast and the surrounding areas on its website, but is not saying how many customers are affected.
