Canada Reads, CBC's annual battle-of-the-books competition, continues this year with a second day of intense literary debate from five high-profile personalities. Intolerable by Kamal Al-Solaylee became the first book to be eliminated in Round 1 of the debates yesterday.
Panellist Kristin Kreuk expressed her disappointment but said she wants to continue encouraging people to pick up the book and read the real-life story of a gay man who grew up in the Middle East.
"It's incredibly important," she said. "Read this book."
Round 2 kicks off today at 10 a.m. ET. Watch it here live.
This year's competition is all about books that can break boundaries, change perspectives and challenge stereotypes.
Each day, a book is eliminated until Thursday, when a winner will be declared.
Check back later in the day to find out who made made the cut, and who didn't, in CBC Books's daily wrap.
