N.L. police search for suspect in police officer dragging incident

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in St. John's is asking for the public's help in locating a suspect at a break and entry Friday morning.

Gordon "Gordie" Bishop, 30, is wanted in relation to a break in at Peter Easton's Pub on Cookstown Road.

An RNC officer was injured when she attempted to detain the suspect. She tried to stop the vehicle and was dragged to a nearby intersection where she broke free.

She was brought to hospital, and was reported to be in stable condition Friday.

Police executed a search warrant at a home on Southside Road Saturday afternoon. However, they did not locate Bishop.

Bishop is wanted on charges of aggravated assault of a peace officer, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer and break and enter.

Southside Road was blocked off to traffic for roughly two hours while police conducted their search, and re-opened around 4 p.m..

Bishop is described as being roughly five feet, eleven inches with brown hair and blue eyes.

Police advise the public not to approach Bishop if located.
