New Brunswick election campaign in its final day

It's the final day of campaigning in the New Brunswick election.

Premier David Alward says he feels good about the campaign waged by his Progressive Conservatives.

He says the Tories ran a positive campaign on a platform to develop natural resources, such as forestry and shale gas.

The other parties have attacked the plans, saying not enough information has been released on the forestry strategy, and that more study is needed before shale gas development can proceed.

Liberal Leader Brian Gallant is doing a blitz of ridings, yesterday making stops in the Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton areas.

He has stepped up his attacks against NDP Leader Dominic Cardy, but Gallant shrugged off questions about whether he's worried about the danger of vote splitting.

The New Democrats have never held more than two seats in the legislature at any one time and Cardy is hoping for a breakthrough this election.

The election is being fought on a new electoral map that reduces the number of seats to 49 from 55.
