Atlantic Canada is set to face another storm system delivering heavy snow and high winds, just days after the region's first taste of winter conditions ahead of the official start to the season.
The storm is now pushing into the Maritimes, where 15 to 30 centimetres of snow could fall in some areas of New Brunswick, P.E.I. and Nova Scotia. Higher amounts of snow and strong winds are forecast for Wednesday night for central and western Newfoundland, CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland said.
Most schools in Nova Scotia cancelled classes for Wednesday, while some flights from Halifax airport to Sydney and Charlottetown have been cancelled.
With a busy holiday travel weekend ahead, and Saturday marking the official start of winter, special weather statements are out across much of southern Ontario and Quebec. A few storm systems are set to roll through Thursday and continue through the weekend, which could bring heavy snow for some — and an icy mix for others.

While the Halifax area could pick up over 15 centimetres through Wednesday, snowfall totals near the Atlantic coast will be lower due to snow changing to rain.
In New Brunswick, the heaviest snow will fall to the east, with up to 20 centimetres expected in Moncton, Scotland said.

Wind will also be a big issue for Atlantic Canada on Wednesday, especially with a lot of snow already on the ground. Wind warnings have been issued for Cape Breton for the afternoon and southern Newfoundland for the evening as the system pushes further north and east.
There are winter storm warnings for much of central and western Newfoundland, where some areas could receive up to 40 centimetres of snow through Thursday.
