Thousands of people are gathering today to attend the funerals for four of the six teenagers killed in a car crash last weekend.
As CBC's Laura Osman reported, very few residents in the neighbouring communities of Lloydminster and Marshall have been left untouched by the tragedy, with many rallying around the families of the victims.
Over 1,000 people gathered this morning at the Lloydminster Exhibition to attend the funeral services for Aimie Hurley, 14, Mackenzie Moen, 14, and Naomi Salas-Schafer, 13 who are all from that city.
Following the funeral, the three coffins were carried out of the hall, led by a procession of bagpipes. Grieving family, friends and members of the community – many of whom were wearing purple armbands to signify their mourning – followed.

(CBC) The funeral for 16-year-old Jayden Boettcher was held several hours later in his hometown of Marshall, Sask. So many attended the service, held at the Three Links Hall, that some were forced to stand outside.
The teens were killed when their car collided with a tanker truck last weekend on a country road near Lloydminster, which straddles the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. The driver of the truck remains in hospital.
The first of the funerals was held Friday in the small town of Lashburn, Sask., as people gathered to pay respects to 15-year-old Tarren Attfield.
The final funeral, for 17-year-old Kristopher Tavener of Marshall, will be held Tuesday afternoon in Lashburn, which is near Lloydminster.
The teenagers come from small communities and their loss has been felt deeply. Fundraisers have been held to support the families in paying for the funerals, while vigils have been held all week at the crash site and at the schools the teens attended.
The RCMP has said it could be months before they figure out details of how the collision happened.
