Police have confirmed that three sets of human remains were found at a burnt out cabin in western Newfoundland.
Earlier this week, police said the remains were discovered at the cabin near Wiltondale, about 17 kilometres off of Route 430, on Tuesday afternoon.
The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Wednesday to identify if they were animal or human.
Neither the cause of death, nor the identities of the individuals has been determined.
The RCMP said their investigation is ongoing, and that the province's chief medical examiner is expected to release more information next week.
