Toronto police are continuing a widespread hunt for two men suspected of violently robbing a TD Bank branch, where they left two people injured from gunshot wounds.

"It's a full-blown effort," Staff Inspector Mike Earl told CBC News. "All police agencies, divisions in the surrounding area here are trying to locate these individuals."

Police are expected to release photos or video footage of the suspects this afternoon.

Previously, Earl had described the two suspects as "very armed and very dangerous."

Police have already located a stolen vehicle believed to have been used by the suspects. The green, four-door Honda Civic was found Sunday night in North York and impounded by police.

On Sunday, Earl gave a detailed description of the two suspects:

  • A black male, armed with a rifle, who was wearing a "quilted-type vest" over his clothing, blue jeans, as well as a "hooded-type sweater underneath."
  • A black male, armed with a handgun, was wearing a White Sox ballcap, with a hoodie overtop and blue jeans.

Customer, employee injured

The men are wanted in connection with a violent armed robbery of a west end TD bank branch Sunday afternoon.

The men, believed to be carrying a rifle and semi-automatic handgun, entered the 2555 St. Clair Ave. West branch shortly after noon, while it was busy with staff and customers.

They demanded patrons comply with their orders as the pair took over the bank, vaulting counters and removing money.

When one customer did not comply quickly, one of the men attempted to shoot him. He missed and struck a 22-year-old employee's left leg instead.

When the pair retreated from the bank, the same customer chased them into the parking lot.

"Bravest guy I've ever met in my life," one witness told CBC News.

One of the perpetrators shot him in the abdomen, and police said he was in serious condition last night, undergoing surgery.

Police are asking the public for help locating the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
