The search is expected to resume today for the driver of a car that sped down a BC Ferries dock, crashed through chain link fence, sped across a tied-up ferry and launched off the other end into the ocean and sank.
RCMP Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong says video surveillance recordings from the terminal show someone was driving the car in yesterday's incident, but no body has been recovered yet.
Armstrong says it's unlikely the person was involved in a medical crisis, because the car had to make a turn as it slammed through the metal gate and roared across the open ferry deck at about 3:45 a.m. PT.
Gabriola Island, B.C.On Wednesday, divers located the vehicle in about 48 metres of water, but they were unable to confirm if there was a body inside.
Search and rescue crews have patrolled the beaches but haven't turned up any further clues.
BC Ferries service between Nanaimo and Gabriola Island is expected to be running on Thursday.
