Maybe Shubenacadie Sam was onto something.
A major winter storm is bearing down on Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Environment Canada is calling for as much as 40 centimetres of snow by Monday afternoon in the Halifax area. Snowfall warnings extend from Lunenburg to Colchester County.
The same system will bring freezing rain and high winds to most of Cape Breton on Sunday.
Conditions will worsen Monday, according to Environment Canada.
"Blizzard conditions can be expected Monday afternoon and evening in Antigonish County and the Cape Breton Highlands," it warned in the latest forecast.
A blizzard warning also in effect for the eastern counties of Prince Edward Island. Environment Canada forecasts between 15 and 30 centimetres of snow, with very strong northwesterly winds on Monday.
Meanwhile, the RCMP have issued a warning to drivers in Nova Scotia, asking them to slow down as the streets are covered in snow, creating slick conditions.
There have been reports of cars off the roads and some accidents.
Travelling by plane isn't much easier. A handful of flights leaving and landing at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport were either cancelled or delayed.
In Halifax there's an overnight parking ban in effect to allow for snow removal or risk a $50 ticket.
