Ontario's chief coroner will not call an inquest into a deadly crash in southwestern Ontario that left 10 migrant workers and a truck driver dead a year ago.
The horrific crash in Hampstead, Ont., occurred on Feb. 6, 2012, when a passenger van failed to stop at an intersection and crossed into the path of an oncoming truck.
Ten migrant workers who were inside the van were killed, as was the truck driver. Three of the van passengers survived.
An investigation determined that the cause of the crash was driver error and the coroner has thus concluded that an inquest would not lead to recommendations to prevent a similar incident.
